[Webgame] A Super Mario Summary

April 30th, 2012 -- Posted by Endymian

Remember when most games consisted of only single screens for each level? Before scrolling to the right even became possible, much less (gasp) scrolling back to the left?

A Super Mario Summary is something like that. This game is the entirety of the first Super Mario Bros., but each level is summarized, or “distilled” if you will, to a single non-scrolling screen. The idea is still the same, get the coins, reach the goal. Every original level is represented and the key elements that made each of those levels memorable is surprisingly preserved.

For the best rating, you must collect all the coins as well as touch the flagpole at or near the top. It’s more challenging than it sounds, but is strangely fun to play and very well designed.

I approve of this game completely, and suggest you give it a try, for old time’s sake.

Play it here.

Have a great week!
